Our Mission
To close the gap between “imagination” and “craftsmanship.”

"My goal has always been simple: help people create jewelry that feels personal, memorable, and worth holding onto for life."
Leonardo Ortegon grew up immersed in the world of fine jewelry. Born in Colombia and raised in South Florida from the age of 13, his earliest experiences were shaped behind the counter of his family’s jewelry stores, watching the care, trust, and emotional meaning exchanged across the showcase. As a teenager at Precious Moments Jewelers, his family’s business since the 1980s, he learned the craft from the ground up: sales, sourcing, custom design, CAD rendering, stone setting, bench repairs, and day-to-day operations.
Over more than a decade, Leonardo gained a rare 360° understanding of what truly makes a jewelry business succeed: craftsmanship, service, and the ability to create pieces that hold personal meaning.
With time, he recognized a gap in the industry. Jewelry stores wanted to offer high-quality custom design without the operational strain. The traditional model made custom feel complicated when it could be a store’s most profitable and emotionally meaningful service. Leonardo built Gemsite to solve that.
Gemsite gives jewelry businesses access to the same level of craftsmanship, design support, and production infrastructure trusted by luxury houses without the overhead. The platform empowers stores to offer custom-designed pieces under their own brand, while Gemsite works discreetly in the background to deliver white-label design, production, and fulfillment.
Rooted in decades of family expertise and refined by Leonardo’s hands-on experience in every role of the trade, Gemsite blends old-world craftsmanship with modern workflow and simplicity. Today, it serves as a trusted behind-the-scenes partner for jewelers who want to grow their custom business, elevate their client experience, and offer meaningful, made-to-order pieces without adding staff or complexity.
For Leonardo, the mission remains the same as what he learned behind the counter years ago: custom jewelry is not just a product, it is a relationship, a story, and a legacy. Gemsite exists to help jewelers deliver that with confidence.
