About

Built inside jewelry stores.

Gemsite comes from years on the sales floor, at the bench, and in the back office, before a line of product code.

Founder, Gemsite

Founder Leonardo Ortegon grew up immersed in the world of jewelry. Born in Colombia and raised in South Florida from the age of 13, his earliest memories as a teenager were spent behind the counter of his aunt's jewelry store, watching, listening, and absorbing how the business actually works from the ground up. By 19, he stepped into a formal role at his cousin's store, Precious Moments Jewelers, where he spent over a decade working across every part of the operation: diamond sales, custom design, CAD, bench work, vendor sourcing, and daily customer interactions. Eventually, he took on day-to-day management, developing a clear understanding of the systems, inefficiencies, and opportunities within the jewelry industry.

That hands-on experience became the foundation for Gemsite. Instead of building another jewelry brand, Leonardo focused on solving the operational and technological gaps he had experienced firsthand. Gemsite is designed as AI powered infrastructure for the jewelry industry, with tools that support communication, custom design workflows, customer management, and overall business operations. The goal is not to add complexity, but to simplify how jewelers run and grow their businesses by embedding intelligent systems into everyday processes.

Gemsite reflects a shift from traditional jewelry workflows to a more modern, scalable approach. It brings together AI, software, and industry specific knowledge to help jewelers operate more efficiently, respond to customers faster, and unlock new ways of delivering value. Built from real experience inside a jewelry store, the platform is grounded in how the industry actually works, while pushing it forward into a more connected and technology driven future.
